Celebrating St. Blaise Feast Day & Blessing of Throats - St Blaise was born in Armenia about the year 316 and devoted himself to medicine and healing souls. He was ordained a Bishop yet still chose to live in a cave for solitude to pray and to escape persecution. It is said that people and animals came to him for healing. Saint Blaise was discovered and put in prison and still continued to help people. He cured a child who was choking on a fish bone. From this, comes the practice of invoking St. Blaise in maladies of the throat. As you come forward to have your throat blessed through the intercession of St. Blaise after Mass this weekend, you will hear these words in the blessing: Through the intercession of St. Blaise, Bishop & Martyr, may God deliver you from ailments of the throat and from every other evil. In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen. Contemplate being protected from illness, but more importantly that we will be protected and guided to not utter unkind words, lies, or falsehoods, and that we will use our instruments of communication to bring God glory and praise.

If you are a parent who signed up to be a prayer partner to a Confirmation Student, please remember to pray for him/her daily. Your partner is praying for you too!
